Elastomer thermoplastics represent the coming together of typical plastic materials transformation technology and the particular elastic characteristics of vulcanized rubbers. Within the windows/doors sector, a family of compounds that is very common is that made up of a polyolefin matrix (PP) into which an elastomeric phase (EPDM) is intimately dispersed, and vulcanized during the dynamic phase.
The main characteristics of this product are the following:
Good resistance to atmospheric ageing, to the ozone and to UV rays;
Low levels of permanent traction and compression (compression set) deformation;
High dimensional stability;
Temperature of use from -20°C to 110°C
TPE gaskets may be used outdoors as they are not subject to shrinkage, variations in hardness or in their relative physical and mechanical performance.
